The Soul of Rome!
Let’s get off the beaten track here. Let’s find the real heart and happenings of Rome and the magic and romance that many people equate with this country called Italy.
Behind closed doors….
I discovered 2 months after living here, that I live practically next door to this door!….lo and behold a Musical and Poetry theater! My bad for being a bit caught up in day to day logistics to not have noticed earlier.
That little lesson woke me up to pay a little more attention. What’s behind those amazing doors of Roman buildings? What’s the story to those places? Who’s in there and what’s their personality and essence sharing with us?
The man from the workshop downstairs, he’s occasionally in the piazza so I say hello when I dash out of my home. He’s usually covered in plaster powder, occasionally filling the air with solvent fumes, polishing up elaborate mirrors…. mirrors he sells to the French, not Italians, the French! The restoration of antique mirrors you see adorning a hallway, living room or formal ballroom. That artistic producer works just downstairs, glad I asked!
This is the kind of curiosity my intuitive cultured traveler wants to share with you here.
These Culture blogs might include one of the obvious tourist locations every now and then, but mostly it’ll be the beneath the surface, the all around us, the “what’s in there?”, kind of charm and culture that I’m keen to share with you here.
Joy to frustration to immense love…..within 30 minutes
Get on the magical Roman roller coaster ride from joy….to frustration city….to immense love… in the space of half an hour!
It’s taxing at times but the innate magic and buoyancy of Rome has you embraced in it’s vibe, an essence, that you can’t seem to put your finger on… it entices you to discover & uncover!
Sure, like everyone I have things to do and get done in a timely manner. So I’m not delving every minute of every day.
However my personal pledge prods me that every other day, I stay on the path of intuitive discovery. Or at the very least, avoid becoming complacent just because I see the Colosseum every other day. Gladiators fought for their life in that very building for goodness sake!!
My intuitive traveler now has no excuse….
My meditation skills will be put to practice through mindful observation of the people, buildings & happenings that create this Roman culture and it’s essence.
The daily prod to be present, as the Dalai Lama or Eckhert Tolle talk to us about, to tap in to my intuitive sense so I can perceptively capture the Soul of Rome and keep it alive and present in what I share with you.
If there’s anything you want to discover or know about in Rome, let me know. I’ll do my best to find out, ask around and share the story.
Here’s to discovering and sharing the Soul of Rome 🙂
