In Italy, our social lifestyle & family lifestyle, are prioritized and nurtured. The social code supports you to do that. We simply don’t get away with a rush coffee or a rush meal, it doesn’t happen! When you visit Rome and Italy, take note, there is NO-ONE walking around with a take away coffee while shopping or talking on their phone!
Throughout the day, I see Italians standing at the café bar chatting with the barrista, the café manager or your friends standing next to you. It can be only a 5 minute stop, but it’s a conscious slow down and connection.

During my days as a Personal Trainer, I used to educate clients that “Food is a friend and fuel, not a chore”.
Food as a fuel means your body functions like a very well tuned Ferrari!
No clogged pipes, forced fuel lines or unhealthy fumes coming out of your exhaust! Our body’s health relies on quality, unprocessed food for sure. Jamie Oliver goes on about it, thank goodness.
Food as a friend is about SOUL fuel, what food does to our mind’s health. Garbage in equals garbage out.
If your body is too busy dealing with processed, empty calorie food, it’s like sitting at the traffic lights, your foot pushing on the accelerator, over revving the engine and burning off unnecessary fuel. It’s too busy wasting energy that it is preparing for a smooth take off and clean run on the road.
We do food everyday. It’s meditation in action!
It’s a great opportunity to practice mindful eating rather than mindless gobbling.
